Join us on Sunday, August 14 at 11:00 am for Summer Sunday Worship with Pastor Inanna Arthen, “Bringing the Harvest Home.”
Early August is the traditional time for the old holiday of Lammas, or “First Fruits”–when gardens are at peak production and the first cutting of wheat, corn and other grains begins. Many state and county fairs open at this time of year. But in the Twenty-first Century, we recognize many other kinds of harvests besides agricultural ones. What do we mean when we say, “you reap what you sow” in all aspects of life? How do we evaluate, and appreciate, harvests of a different kind?
The RE kids will be meeting downstairs for a casual summer RE class with RE Lead Teacher Kirsty Johnson Erikson.
Following the service, the Governing Board will convene for a potluck lunch and its annual “Retreat” to plan the coming church year.
