On Sunday, March 30, at 4:00 p.m. UUCW will hold the second session in our “Welcoming Congregations” journey of learning. We’ll be discussing issues and topics from chapters 3 and 4 of The Welcoming Congregations Handbook: “The Common Elements of Oppression” and “Gender Socialization and Homophobia.” We’ll look at how oppression can take many different forms, some of them not so obvious, and share how we’ve been affected by it, and we’ll look at how gender roles can contain homophobia in their expectations and restrictions for both girls and boys.
Following the workshop, at 5:00 p.m., we’ll segue into a worship service related to the Welcoming Congregations theme. At 6:00 p.m. we’ll gather downstairs for our post-service potluck supper and fellowship. Bring a “welcoming” dish to share, or just bring your wonderful self!
All are welcome! Attendance at previous Welcoming Congregations sessions is not required. You may join us at any time in this journey! Looking forward to seeing you there.
