Join us on Sunday, October 16 at 11:00 a.m. for Sunday Worship led by Dave Faucher, “Music and Social Justice”.
Join us for a Chalice Circle worship service led by David Faucher on “Music and Social Justice.”
From the songs of the black churches of the south, the anti-war hymns of the 60’s, to the self-affirming pop songs of today; music has played a part in shaping the society and pushing us forward. Inspired by Bob Dylan’s winning of the Nobel Prize for Literature, it’s this music we focus on today, the sound of change.
Is there a song that subtly talks to you about your place in the universe like Jewel’s “Hands”? Something catchy that speaks to our continuing divisions like Bruce Hornsby’s “That’s Just the Way It Is.” Or, more of an indictment of where society like Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” These songs both timeless and timely speak to us in different ways. Come share your stories and feelings about the music that has touched your life and changed your mind as we share in this sacred place.
RE will be meeting downstairs during the service. The “Beginnings” class will meet at 11:00 a.m. while the older kids join us for the first part of the service upstairs. At 11:30 a.m. the older kids will go downstairs for their “Questings” class. Parents should arrive early to register their child if it’s your first time for RE.
Following our service, at noon, the UUCW Governing Board will convene for its monthly meeting. All church members are welcome. If you have something you’d like to bring before the meeting, speak to Dave Faucher or Pastor Inanna Arthen beforehand.
See you in church!
